UNCONVENTIONAL DISPLAY POSSIBILITIES

The way in which artworks are presented to an audience conditions their reception.
Presenting images on walls, within frames, belong to a cultural tradition related to the act of collecting artifacts for private spaces.
Emancipating from this convention, can we imagine ways in which the display mediate comprehensively the work to the viewer, in which the display becomes part of the work?
This series of talks and workshops invite students to consider unconventional ways of presenting artworks in space and experimenting with alternative strategies.

How can we activate images to trigger different perceptions, and let new narratives unfold in space?
The workshop focuses on the materiality and spatial quality of pictures, investigating a variety of display issues such as reproduction, manipulation, decay, scale, modularity, etc.
In teams, participants will be invited to collect a set of original pictures to be used as samples in a series of hands-on experiences. Step by step, as the activities progressively transform the space, students will engage in documenting the process with words and images.
